The work behind the tools, offered as work.

PhoneForge is built by Taadom Digital Co. Ltd, and it is the public proof of a narrower claim: that records scattered across places, saved more than once and never quite matching, can be pulled into one set that holds. The same people take that work on for other organisations, and take on the questions around it: whether an idea is worth building, what is already out there, and whether a product does what it claims.

Organising records, and merging the duplicates

One person recorded three times is the same problem whether it sits in a phonebook, a patient register or a customer database. PhoneForge is that problem solved in public, at the small end, and the method is the part that transfers.

  • Matching and merging duplicates into one verified record, with every merge shown for review before anything is committed
  • Patient registers where somebody was admitted again as a new arrival, leaving one person with their history split in two
  • Migrations: an old system folded into a new one without carrying its duplicates across
  • Contacts gathered out of mailboxes, phone exports and the systems you already run, into one repository your staff can search
  • Work directories sorted: copies found across folders, files named and filed into a structure that holds
  • Delivered as software you keep running, not a one-off clean-up that drifts back

Advisory for teams building something similar

If you are setting out to build a consumer tool of this kind, most of the expensive mistakes are already known. We have made several of them.

  • Shaping the product before any code: what to build first and what to leave out
  • Choosing a technical approach that fits the budget and the market, not the fashion
  • Privacy and data handling designed in rather than retrofitted
  • What it actually costs to run, and how that scales
  • Reviewing a plan you already have, and saying where it will hurt

Evaluation, done scientifically

Judging whether a product works is a research question, and it has methods. Opinions dressed as findings are the usual alternative.

  • Designing an evaluation that can actually answer the question asked
  • Measuring against stated outcomes rather than against activity
  • Usability and accessibility assessment with real users, not a checklist
  • Independent review of claims a product makes about itself
  • Reporting that distinguishes what was shown from what was hoped

Market research and competitor analysis

Before committing to a build, knowing the ground. Who is already serving these people, how well, and at what price.

  • Sizing and segmenting the market you intend to enter
  • Competitor landscape: features, pricing, positioning and gaps
  • User research in the markets you are targeting, in the languages spoken there
  • Pricing research for low-income and mixed-income markets
  • A written recommendation you can act on or disagree with

Scoping and feasibility

The stage where a good idea becomes a plan with a number attached, or does not.

  • Turning a brief into a scope with a budget and a timeline
  • Technical feasibility assessment and the risks worth naming
  • Build, buy or adapt: which of the three, and why
  • Funding-ready documentation for proposals and grant applications

How we work

You can see the evidence

PhoneForge is the demonstration. It is public, it is used, and the decisions behind it are written down. You are not being asked to take a capability on trust.

Findings come with their limits

Every piece of research has a boundary beyond which it does not support a conclusion. We state ours. A report that sounds certain about everything is a report that has not been checked.

Rooted where the problems are

Taadom works in and for low- and middle-income markets. Research conducted in the market you are entering, in the languages spoken there, rather than inferred from somewhere else.

We will say no

If the answer to a feasibility question is that it is not feasible, that is the answer you get. It is cheaper than the alternative.
